ORDERLY. Iori is nothing if not excellent at making sure things go exactly as planned. He even operates behind the scenes with Tsumugi, the group's manager, to ensure that things go smoothly. When things don't go as planned, Iori takes it hard. When he fails to perform adequately during a performance, Iori doesn't handle it well. After the performance, Iori actually runs from his friends because he's so ashamed of himself. He thinks he's let them down--Iori even thinks that he's ruined their dreams. Suffice it to say, Iori wants to see his friends succeed, and it's unacceptable when he weighs them down.
CRITICAL. Iori can seem pretty cold. He's nothing short of a perfectionist, so when he sees an area to improve, he's not shy about voicing that. This is especially true where Riku is concerned; Iori knows Riku's potential, so anything short of that, he won't accept. It can seem very much like Iori is nagging--and, really, he is. Though it comes from a good place, it can come across as cold and like Iori is never satisfied with someone's progress. Iori means well, he's just... not good at expressing that. He has a difficult time showing his emotions; when Riku upsets him during their practice with TRIGGER, Iori turns away to hide the fact that he's crying. And when Riku apologizes again and again, Iori straight up tells him that it's getting tedious to listen to him apologize. Iori probably means that Riku doesn't have to apologize so much, but... it comes out completely wrong. Oops. And even though Iori doesn't like being called out... well, he'll gladly call others out. He means well! Really!
SOFT. Iori, though, can be extremely cute. His bond with his brother runs deep and very strong; Iori even became an idol, because he gave the ultimatum that if Mitsuki couldn't join, then he wouldn't, either. Iori loves his brother perhaps more than anyone, and while Iori isn't a terribly affectionate person and grouses about it, he really doesn't mind. Despite the fact that Iori says he doesn't like soft and cute things, in several scenes in the show, Iori is seen to have a quiet appreciation for cute things. He's happy when his friends and brother are happy--and when their dreams come true, so do Iori's.
IMAGE. Iori's image is his selling point. He comes off as cool and sophisticated; he carries himself well, and he knows that. When deciding on the center, he even states that if he were center, they'd be "flawlessly unified, but perhaps too tame." Iori knows he's more subdued and lowkey than the others, at least on the surface. Iori isn't afraid to show emotion, it's just that it's sort of difficult for him. He prefers to work on raising the others up; this poses a problem when Riku is unable to perform as center and Iori is made center instead. Though he's very successful and popular as center, Iori still feels guilty about it; he's done it for Riku, but he dislikes how Riku's been made to feel like he's been replaced. Iori even states that he was scared to take Riku's place, because he had to live up to those expectations. He's compared himself to Riku, and the pressure of trying to live up to that image nearly breaks him. Iori also does not like being called out, especially when it comes to his feelings. He's pretty damn tsundere, basically.
Suitability: Iori is going to have... an adjustment period. He gets flustered easily, especially when it comes to cute things. The idea of casual affection is going to be something Iori's going to have to seriously adjust to, but with his brother, Sougo, and Riku around, Synchrony likely won't be as much of an issue as it would be otherwise. Still, the fact that his emotions will be felt is also going to be a time for Iori; he says and acts one way, but his feelings might not line up with that. It's going to be mortifying and incredible.
